BEACH POINT, P.E.I. – A fishing boat that rammed into another vessel — landing on top of its deck and killing two people — was on autopilot, according to the Transportation Safety Board. The board says both the Forever Chasin’ Tail and the Joel ’98 left Beach Point, P.E.I., to haul lobster traps on June 9.Weather conditions were good at the time with low winds, clear skies and unlimited visibility, the board’s report said. The three crew aboard Forever Chasin’ Tail set their traps and headed home. The master “set the automatic pilot to steer a westerly course toward the entrance to Beach Point harbour,” the report said.Directly in their path: The five-person crew on the Joel ’98, who continued to haul and reset lobster traps. The report said the Joel ’98 crew had just recovered the marker buoy on their next set of lobster traps and were focused on the starboard side when crew saw the Forever Chasin’ Tail heading directly toward their port side.“At about the same time, the crew on board the Forever Chasin’ Tail saw the Joel ’98 directly in front of them. With no time for either vessel to manoeuvre, the Forever Chasin’ Tail collided with the Joel ’98,” the report states. The Forever Chasin’ Tail came to rest on the deck of the Joel ’98. As the stern began to sink, two crew members and one passenger climbed onto the other vessel.“The remaining crew member and passenger from the Joel ’98 were found floating at the surface on the port side of the Forever Chasin’ Tail as it floated free of the sinking vessel,” it said. The crew member was pulled on board the Forever Chasin’ Tail, while the passenger was taken on board another fishing vessel. Both were taken to Beach Point, where they were pronounced dead by first responders.Previous media reports had identified the victims as Justin MacKay, 20, and 59-year-old Chris Melanson. The board said the Joel ’98 remained partly submerged for several hours and later sank while under tow by another fishing vessel.

New York: Do you have an on and off relationship with your romantic partner? Beware, it can affect your mental health, say researchers. The findings showed that an increase in breaking up and reuniting was associated with more psychological distress symptoms such as depression and anxiety. It is because such relationships are associated with higher rates of abuse, poorer communication and lower levels of commitment.”Breaking up and getting back together is not always a bad omen for a couple. In fact, for some couples, breaking up can help partners realise the importance of their relationship, contributing to a healthier, more committed union,” said Kale Monk, Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri in the US. Also Read – Add new books to your shelf”On the other hand, partners who are routinely breaking up and getting back together could be negatively impacted by the pattern,” she added. For the study, appearing in the journal Family Relations, the team examined data from more than 500 individuals currently in relationships. They found that partners often break up and reunite on necessity or practicality. For example, a person might stay in a relationship for financial reasons or partners might stay together because they feel they have invested too much time into the relationship to leave. Also Read – Over 2 hours screen time daily will make your kids impulsiveFormer partners should get back together based on dedication, not obligation, Monk suggested. The researchers suggested that people in these kinds of relationships should make informed decisions about stabilising or safely terminating their relationships.”The findings suggest that people who find themselves regularly breaking up and getting back together with their partners need to ‘look under the hood’ of their relationships to determine what’s going on,” Monk said. “If partners are honest about the pattern, they can take the necessary steps to maintain their relationships or safely end them. This is vital for preserving their well-being,” Monknoted.
April 24, 2015 The Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger just imploded and Mark Cuban isn’t happy about it. The outspoken billionaire investor and “Shark Tank” star took to Twitter today to kvetch about the failed fusion, sarcastically congratulating the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its “first skin on the wall” in its crusade for a free, open Internet. Cuban’s cranky tweet-venting on the foiled merger, the news of which broke yesterday, doesn’t come as a surprise. (What did, however, was the tweet’s lack of profanity.) It’s no secret that the swear-happy serial entrepreneur vehemently opposes net neutrality, nor that he would point the finger at the FCC and its net neutrality rules for the demise of the $45 billion merger.Related: What Is Net Neutrality, and How Can It Affect Your Business? He’s not off the mark. After all, Comcast and Time Warner climbing into bed together would give rise to a single media monopoly wielding power over 40 percent of the public’s access to the Internet. Nothing neutral about that. In the past, Cuban has called the FCC’s Open Internet Order the “dumbest thing ever” and warned that “it will *uck everything up.” And, apparently to him (and everyone else who can see the forest for the trees), it did just that with the dashed Comcast-Time Warner mega merger. The Chicago-based former tech exec, who, mind you, built his own empire on the open Internet, made no bones about placing blame for the merger meltdown:Congrats to the Department of the [email protected] for their first skin on the wall- @Comcast @TWC Merger.Disagree with #NetNeutrality and boom— Mark Cuban (@mcuban) April 24, 2015Basically, Cuban is saying that, monopoly issues aside, because the two corporate giants are against net neutrality, the FCC turned their potential marriage into a divorce before they even said “I do.” Related: Despite What Mark Cuban Says, Net Neutrality Will Not Create ‘Uncertainty’As you probably know by now, last February, the FCC adopted a landmark policy known as net neutrality. On the day of the historic ruling, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler said the aim of the controversial policy is to make sure “that no one — whether government or corporate — should control free and open access to the Internet.” In short, the order doesn’t allow broadband ISPs, like Comcast and Time Warner, to charge content providers for faster speeds. Instead, they must remain neutral Internet traffic gateways that handle different types of online traffic the same way and for the same costs. Sorry, Cuban, no fast lanes allowed. Related: FCC Adopts Tough Net Neutrality Rule in Historic Regulatory ShiftThe FCC reclassified broadband ISPs as “telecommunication services” subject to regulation similar to the telephone monopolies of the last century. The reclassification gives the commission far greater authority to prevent the companies that own bandwidth from favoring some content providers.Cuban recently told the Washington Post that he thinks ISPs should be able to charge content providers for fast lanes, saying that future high-bitrate applications that we can’t even fathom yet will require them. These coming applications, he says, could include bandwidth vampire medical apps that would enable doctors to view live video from accident scenes over 5G networks, as well as machine vision apps. Without fast lanes, the content won’t be delivered quickly enough, he claims.Related: Mark Cuban: Why This Tech Bubble Is Worse Than the Tech Bubble of 2000 Register Now » Free Webinar | Sept. 9: The Entrepreneur’s Playbook for Going Global Growing a business sometimes requires thinking outside the box. 3 min read
