SANTA CLARITA – The TV business gave Santa Clarita the equivalent of a Valentine gift in February as more film crews shot on location and spent more money on goods and services than in times past. A flurry of handwritten signs tacked to signposts around town told the story: Production crews filmed 70 times this February versus 36 times last year. “It’s kind of like Sally Fields’ Oscar acceptance speech, `The film industry likes us right now, they really like us,”‘ said Jason Crawford, Santa Clarita’s film and tourism administrator. The entertainment business ranks among the city’s top four industries. In the first eight months of fiscal 2006-07, $14.5 million was spent in town by film companies. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
