(Photo by Matthew Holst/Getty Images)With last Friday’s win over Nebraska, Iowa football finished 8-4 in the regular season. The 31-28 win was the last big chance for bowl representatives to get a look at the Hawkeyes. Considering Nebraska’s play of late, the home win should look pretty good.We also know that Iowa fans will travel pretty well. While whichever bowl game lands the eight-win club probably won’t see a Rose Bowl-esque takeover, they are a solid draw and that helps in bowl candidacy.According to The Daily Iowan, reps from three bowl games were at Kinnick Stadium on Friday to watch Iowa football beat Nebraska. After a trip to New York City’s Pinstripe Bowl in 2017, Iowa is likely destined for California or Florida in December.Bowl representatives from the Holiday (San Diego), Outback (Tampa), and Citrus (Orlando) Bowls made the trip to Kinnick to watch Iowa’s 31-28 win over Nebraska on Black Friday.[…]After the game, Ferentz was asked about going to somewhere slightly warmer than New York in December.“I have no idea. I know it will be warmer than last year,” he said. “Make a prediction, go out on a limb. We had a great experience last year. I’m not minimizing that at all. It was a great experience. We’re looking forward to wherever they want to send us.”The Holiday Bowl appears to be the favorite, which would be the first trip to San Diego since 1991 for the Hawkeyes. Hayden Fry’s 10-1 team tied BYU 13-13 in that game. The Outback Bowl had Iowa just two years ago (a 30-3 loss to Florida), and the Citrus Bowl is more likely to go to Big Ten West champs Northwestern, which makes San Diego the most likely destination.I don’t think many Hawkeye fans would complain a trip out to San Diego though. There are worst places to be in the dead of winter.[The Daily Iowan]last_img
