Desiree Hellegers, associate professor of English at Washington State University Vancouver, has transformed her book about women and homelessness into a play. Two staged readings of “No Room of Her Own: Women’s Stories of Homelessness, Life, Death and Resistance” will come to life as part of Portland’s Fertile Ground Festival of New Plays.The readings are 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23 and 24 at Copeland Commons at Tabor Space, 5441 S.E.
